Menomonee Falls – Waukesha County Supervisor Janel Brandtjen (District – 5) has serious concerns about the proposed on-site healthcare facility that the county plans to open. The project is in conjunction with the City of Waukesha and the Waukesha school district. The three government entities plan on creating a clinic on Waukesha County grounds to exclusively treat public employees.
“The county should not be in the business of health care. My constituents do not want this huge expansion of government and I will be taking steps to stop the county from making this very serious mistake.” Brandtjen said. “We have not even approved the project and already they want a quarter of a million for the building and another million plus to implement it.” Brandtjen also stated that other supervisors have similar concerns.
“Once a project like this gets started it is almost impossible to stop. Everyone knows what happens when government dabbles in private sector business. The costs will skyrocket, the quality of services will diminish and the taxpayers will be stuck with the tab.” Brandtjen added. “I think that when the county residents have an opportunity to fully consider the ramifications of this project they too will reject it.”
Brandtjen is planning to offer a resolution to remove any initial costs for the heath care project from the upcoming budget at Tuesday’s board meeting.
