Prosser Wins Big in Menomonee Falls

Voter turnout was huge for a spring election with nearly 50 percent of registered voters heading to the polls.

State Supreme Court justice David. T. Prosser posted a resounding victory in Menomonee Falls over his challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg, a state prosecutor.

Prosser received 8,449 votes, or 72 percent of the votes cast for the high court. JoAnne Kloppenburg collected 3,265 votes, or 28 percent of the vote in Menomonee Falls.

Not a single contested local election was on the ballot, but voter turnout was incredibly strong for a spring election. In Menomonee Falls, 11,772 voters went to the polls on Tuesday, or 46 percent of registered voters.

Voter turnout came quite close to meeting the total number of ballots ordered by Village Clerk Janice Moyer. Moyer said the village had enough ballot on stock to cover 50 percent of registered voters.

In April 2009, only 29 percent of registered voters participated in the election. That election featured contested races for the School Board, Village President and state Supreme Court.

Village Board incumbents Sharon Ellis, James Jeskewitz and Dennis Farrell all reclaimed their seats on the board as they ran unopposed. School Board members Gina Palazzari and Ronald Bertieri also reclaimed their seats in an uncontested election.

As of 10 p.m. Tuesday, Prosser and Kloppenburg were still engaged in a head-to-head battle with votes split down the middle 50/50.

All results in Menomonee Falls are unofficial until canvassed Wednesday.
