PHOTO SLIDESHOW: Falls' Parade, Fireworks Draw Crowds, Notables

Independence Day parade in Menomonee Falls fills Appleton Avenue

Gov. Scott Walker, and his wife Tonette, drew cheers as they walked in the Menomonee Falls' Fourth of July parade on Tuesday.

Other politicians, including former Gov. Tommy Thompson, joined them in celebrating the nation's independence, a day early.

Children dashed for candy and even popsicles. Clowns, bands, pom pon squads and all of the typical parade staples were there. So were a few unusual sights: Including Elvis and the Lone Ranger.

Families staked out spots along Appleton Avenue. Later that evening, the fireworks went off with the light of a full moon in the background.

The stealth entry of Gov. Walker was outstanding!!!! Well worth the wait in the heat, what an honor to see him in our parade and share in the rolling standing ovation.

Shame at me for staying home and missing a look at that awesome shirt. I've been to a parade when he was county exec though.

What a terrific night. The bands following were worth the wait. I hope it continues in the future! Really brought out the celebration and bridged the wait for fireworks in a delightful way!

Family and friends enjoyed a great parade, thanks to the Falls Optimists Club for sponsoring the parade again and their volunteers for their hard work and expense.
I thought the fireworks were good, thanks Chief for making the right call, and I guess the sky isn't falling after all.
Considering the weather, I thought the crowds were well behaved where we were and it was nice to see the Falls finest there in case there were any issues.
Felt sorry for a llot of the parade participants, especially the younger ones but that's why I don't think the parade route can be any longer.
We plan of 'reliving' the parade today on fallscableacces.com. Have a happy and safe 4th everyone, and rememeber to celebrate AMERICA!!!

It was a great parade! My daughter liked the popsicles they threw.
