Man Charged in Monday Standoff

Suspect allegedly pointed a shotgun in neighbor's chest due to argument about golf clubs.

A 39-year-old Menomonee Falls man is facing multiple charges after he was involved with a standoff with police officers, which began as an argument with a neighbor about using golf clubs in the front yard of his home on Devonwood Road.

Brian W. Dujmovic was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of pointing a firearm, one count of disorderly conduct with dangerous use of a weapon, two counts of disorderly conduct, one count of obstructing an officer and one count of resisting an officer.

According to the criminal complaint, at 8:09 p.m. Monday, a neighbor of Dujmovic was in the front yard of his property and using golf clubs when Dujmovic pulled into his driveway in his vehicle and honked his horn. Dujmovic asked the neighbor to use the clubs in his back yard, to which the neighbor replied that it’s a free country and he can use his clubs wherever he wants.

Dujmovic then responsed “why don’t I point my shotgun at you,” the complaint alleges, which the neighbor responded “why don’t you do that.” Dujmovic then walked across the street to his residence and came back 15 seconds later with a gun and held it against the chest of the neighbor.

The neighbor then immediately went back into his house and called the police. Officers interviewed Dujmovic on the phone, the complaint states, who told them the neighbor mouthed off to him, so he got an AK47 out of his house and then told investigators the victim “needs some sense knocked into him.”

The complaint states Dujmovic continued to make threatening statements and that he would harass the neighbor like he had harassed him. He also said he would harass the neighbor by cleaning a rifle in his front yard.

He also voiced his displeasure with the Menomonee Falls Police Department and told the officers he could run a gas truck into the police station.

Shortly after the phone interview, the complaint states officers received a 911 call from the neighbor who said Dujmovic was displaying a gun from within his residence and pointing it at him.

The incident led to a tactical situation with Dujmovic, who was eventually brought into custody. At the time of the arrest, he was wearing a bullet proof vest and was physically aggressive with officers.

Dujmovic is being held in Waukesha County Jail on $20,000 cash bond.
