Legacy Church Hosting Free Outdoor Movie Nights

The debut event is at 7 p.m. Friday, but Legacy will host a second movie night on Aug. 24.

Wisconsin only has a few precious months of sunny, warm summer weather. Why spend any more time in doors if you don’t have to? However, sometime you just want to kick back relax and enjoy a movie.

There was a day when drive-in theaters would fill that niche, but those are largely relics of the past. However, in Menomonee Falls is hosting the next best thing – free outdoor movie nights.

The first movie will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at . The movie, “Cars 2,” will be the first film shown at the debut event. It’s a free family event, and popcorn and drinks will be served. There will also be a bounce house, obstacle course, and face painting for kids.

Although it’s a bit short notice for the first flick, Legacy will have another movie night at 7 p.m. Aug. 24 at Village Park as well. They’ll show the movie, “The Lorax,” just weeks before it’s released on DVD.

“It’s sponsored by a church, but it’s not really a church event. We’re just putting this on for the community, because we care about families,” said Matt Berry, Legacy’s outreach director. “It’s totally free and not publicizing for us. The whole goal is to do something for the families in the community.”

Participants are invited to bring their own snacks, chairs, or picnic blankets for the film. The movies will begin at about 8:30 p.m. or whenever the sun fully sets.

Legacy was , and has been growing ever since. The church holds Sunday services at the Menomonee Falls High School.
