Falls Students Earn Top Honors in Prestigious Art Competition

In all, 23 students from Menomonee Falls earned awards in the state's top art competition. Their work is on display at the Milwaukee Art Museum until March 17.

While sports teams have state championships, art students earn honors for their creative talents during the Wisconsin Regional Scholastic Art competition. And Falls students fared well at the contest this year.

Falls students earned 23 awards at the competition, which is the most prestigious art competition in our nation.

The Awards presentation was held Feb. 2 at the Milwaukee Art Museum.  The exhibit is on view from Feb. 2 through March 17 in the Quadracci Pavilion.

The following students earned honors:

  • Alexis  Proell, Gold Key- Photography

The Scholastic Art Competition is comparable to the state football playoffs for student artists.  It is truly an honor to have their work selected to be in the Scholastic Exhibition, let alone be on display in the Milwaukee Art Museum.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have provided an avenue for young artists and writers, in grades 7-12, to receive recognition and rewards for their creative achievements since 1923. By acknowledging the visions and voices of emerging artists and writers, The Awards have helped nurture eight decades of promising talent by providing recognition, cash awards and college scholarships.

I've always touted Falls' kids as "Triple A" students; Acedemics, Arts and Athletics. It looks like the Arts kids have stepped up....again! Congratulations, keep up the good work.

Carl it would be nice to see photos of their work. I understand driving all the way to the MAM is time consuming, but maybe the students or teacher can post pics of their art here?
